Warehouse Volunteers Needed in Kansas City

Click here to see photos of volunteers in action at the OIC Warehouse!

Description of Project:

People to People International, the administrator of the Operation Iraqi Children program, is seeking volunteers to help assemble School Supply Kits. The kits are assembled at the OIC Warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri. From there they are shipped to Iraq and other countries with a US Military presence, and then distributed by U.S. troops to children in need.

To schedule a time to volunteer, please contact the OIC Warehouse Coordinator at OICWarehouse@ptpi.org.

Individuals, small groups, families, clubs, etc... are encouraged to schedule a volunteer time! For students required to do community service hours, this is a great way to get involved in something heart-warming and fun at the same time!

Description of Duties:

Come with a smile, patience and a spirit of fun!

On average, we receive 5 to 10 shipments of supplies per day for Operation Iraqi Children. Some of these shipments contain fully assembled School Supply Kits, contributed by people from across the country. Other shipments will contain bulk supplies that need to be sorted, assembled into a School Supply Kit and then boxed for shipment to Iraq. Help is needed with both assembling kits and sorting incoming shipments.

Water will be provided, however, please bring a snack if necessary.

Operation Iraqi Children Project Description:

Operation Iraqi Children (OIC) is program established to bring desperately needed school supplies to the children of Iraq. This program, founded by actor Gary Sinise Forrest Gump, Apollo 13) and author Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit: An American Legend), promotes the collection and contribution of both supply and monetary donations. 100% of all contributions to OIC are used solely for the project. With the help of the United States Armed Forces, OIC's contributions are distributed to children throughout Iraq. The goal of Operation Iraqi Children is to improve the quality of education for Iraqi children by ensuring their access to the basic tools of learning, and to foster goodwill between American troops and the Iraqi people while promoting the peace process.

Help us to build peace in the world by making a difference in the life of a child! After all, it is the children of the universe that are the real hope for peace in the future. We hope we have your support in being part of the solution.
